spring fling
Spring Fling is held on the Thursday of reading period in the spring semester. Students gather on Foss Hill to chill, hang out, and listen to amazing performances by artists. Wesleyan usually brings in three artists/bands to perform in this concert. This year (2014), we are having Chance The Rapper, tUnE-yArDs, and S-Type!
wesfest
WesFest is an annual three-day event in April, that allows admitted students (aka prefrosh) to experience life at Wesleyan first-hand. These prefrosh get to live in a Wesleyan dorm/apartment hosted by current Wesleyan students, literally have a taste of Wesleyan dining, and even attend classes! There are many performances and events that happen during WesFest— an outdoor BBQ on Foss Hill on the Friday of the event, Mabuhay (the annual Asian/Asian American show), a Fashion Show, and Undies in Olin amongst others.
late nights
Every semester, various student groups organize late night where students can take a study break and enjoy delicious foods. Korean Student Association, Freeman Asian Scholars Association, IIMPACT India, and W'Escrime are among the student groups that usually hold late night events. Usually, late nights take place on Sunday night at Exley. Some student groups even do delivery service!
cultural shows
There are different cultural shows on campus throughout the year. Some of the longstanding ones on campus are the Lunar New Year celebration in February, Korean Students Association Culture Show, Japanese Culture Show, Samsara (Shakti - South Asian), Ariya (African Culture Show), Philippine Culture Show (Pistahan) and etc.
tag sale (waste not)
Waste Not is an annual tag sale held move-in weekend that is run by Sustainability Interns and student volunteers. Every spring, students donate items that they no longer need or want, and the Sustainability Office stores them over the summer to sell in the fall. Then, in the fall, a HUGE tag sale is held to sell those items back to the community, thereby keeping valuable items out of the landfill and in circulation. The items sold include mini-fridges, outdoor furniture, couches, clothing, costumes, kitchenware, and tons of miscellaneous, often hilarious, items for you to buy at extremely low prices. The proceeds go to sustain the Waste Not program and extra goes to charity.
