During the academic year
As an international student on an F-1 visa, you are eligible to work on-campus for a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic semester. Information on the types of jobs available on-campus and procedures for securing the same may be found on the Student Employment homepage, here:
http://www.wesleyan.edu/finaid/employment/
You are also permitted to work off-campus, however, only provided that you acquire appropriate prior authorisation. Authorisation may be of two types: Curricular Practical Training or Optional Practice Training, both of which have their own distinct features. You are required to have either one for any off-campus internship or job that you are seeking to pursue over the summer or during the semester. Information regarding CPT and OPT may be found at:

Summer jobs
Working over the summer on campus is a great idea to help cover some of your financial responsibilities. Not all on-campus works require work-study, but it certainly makes you more marketable for employment.
Student employees are usually responsible for their own housing over the summer, but keep in mind that some campus jobs provide or subsidize summer housing. In the spring semester, summer employment opportunities are posted here: http://www.wesleyan.edu/finaid/employment/Summer%20Employment.html.
Each job posting has a job description with more detailed information about the position's requirements, including the contact information of the position's supervisor. Once you find a position that interests you, you can give the supervisor a call or send them an email to express your interest.
For information about summer internship and job opportunities for international students, visit the Wesleyan Career Center webpage. Please don't hesitate to reach out to the Career Center via email or in person, for more in-depth information.
