All Wesleyan students are required to be on a meal plan every academic year—the cost is covered in your room & boarding fees. The meal plan consists of 2 categories: meals and points.
mealsA meal is a set that usually includes a main entrée, a drink, fruits and dessert. In Usdan, it is buffet-style.
Only accepted in Marketplace Usdan, and Summerfields. In WEShop, it is only applicable for packed food which usually includes a sandwich, fruit, drink and cookie.

pointsPoints are seen in dollar value. 1 point = 1 dollar
Accepted everywhere. Generally used to buy groceries in WEShop, and other eateries that do not accept meals such as WesWings and Red & Black. Meal can also be translated into points, depending on the eatery.

6. All Declining Balance Plan (no meals, all points) |
To decide which meal plan is suitable for you, you should take into consideration of:
The number of meals you take a day
If you plan on having all three meals, you should get the plan with most meals.
Kitchen availability
If you have a kitchen and you plan on cooking most of your meals, you should get a plan with more points, because you can only purchase groceries in WEShop using points. Please be reminded that freshman dorms only have communal kitchen, which means you will have to share the space with every one in your hall, and you have to get your own kitchen utensils. Therefore, many freshmen do not opt to cook due to the inconvenience and will get the meal plan with the most meals.
Which dining area you will frequent
Look below for more information. All dining areas & cafes in Wesleyan have vegetarian and/or vegan option.
